What to do if a tooth is completely knocked out

If you have completely dislodged a tooth or it has been knocked out, it is extremely important how you handle your lost tooth. Hold the tooth by the crown (the top part of the tooth) and rinse off the tooth root. If it is possible, place the tooth back in the socket and hold the tooth in place. If this is not possible, we recommend placing the tooth in a glass of milk. It is then imperative that you get to our practice within 30 minutes. The quicker you can get to the practice, the greater the chance you have of saving your tooth.

What to do if you have broken a tooth

For patients with broken teeth, we recommend you keep the area clean. Use an ice pack if swelling is present. If possible, call our practice for step by step guidance on what to do.

What to do if you are experiencing toothache

Pain is your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong! If you are experience any dental pain or toothache, it is better and more cost-effective in the long run to book in for a dental appointment as soon as possible.
