If you have knocked out a tooth, broken a tooth or are experiencing dental pain, it is vital that you get to a dentist as soon as possible. Prompt action can make all the difference between saving or losing a tooth. Not only that, delaying action on dental pain or dental emergencies can end up costing you more in the long run. Don’t wait until any pain you are experiencing is unbearable – book in for a dental appointment with our friendly team as soon as possible.
Dr Meng Quah-Shepherd and her team focus their efforts on personalised dental care and the long-term health of your teeth and gums. Once we have addressed any urgent dental issues you have, we will provide you with an action plan if necessary to ensure there are no further complications.
If you have completely dislodged a tooth or it has been knocked out, it is extremely important how you handle your lost tooth. Hold the tooth by the crown (the top part of the tooth) and rinse off the tooth root. If it is possible, place the tooth back in the socket and hold the tooth in place. If this is not possible, we recommend placing the tooth in a glass of milk. It is then imperative that you get to our practice within 30 minutes. The quicker you can get to the practice, the greater the chance you have of saving your tooth.
For patients with broken teeth, we recommend you keep the area clean. Use an ice pack if swelling is present. If possible, call our practice for step by step guidance on what to do.
